About Leeds Philharmonic Choir


Leeds Philharmonic Chorus is a renowned choir that has been part of the city’s musical landscape for over 150 years. With a varied repertoire spanning centuries of choral music, from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, they continue to captivate audiences with a commitment to musical excellence, often collaborating with internationally acclaimed soloists and orchestras, and with numerous other musical organisations and ensembles in Leeds and beyond.

The chorus is committed to playing a lead role in fostering a vibrant and interconnected choral music scene in Leeds, and are at the beginning of an exciting new partnership with Leeds Conservatoire, providing opportunities for students to gain valuable experience and participate in high-quality choral performances. There is a welcoming and inclusive environment, and “the Leeds Phil” aims to inspire and empower its auditioned membership to reach their full potential.

Additional Opportunities


Where there are semi-chorus and stand out solo opportunities, all members of the chorus will be considered for these equally.

As we develop our relationship with Leeds Conservatoire, we would like to take an active interest in your developing career. Do keep us posted regarding any internal and external performances you may be involved in, and we can spread the word to the membership.

What’s The Commitment?


  • Attendance (min. 85% per project) at all agreed rehearsals
  • Commitment to all main performances in the season
  • Willingness to attend other events and engagements throughout the year

You will receive a student schedule with all the rehearsal dates that fall inside term time. You are welcome to join us for rehearsals that fall outside this student schedule, although the attendance percentage above applies to those within it.
