Live At Leeds in the City 2024: Venue Tech Placement Opportunities (now closed)
Live at Leeds in the City is a multi-venue festival taking place across Leeds on Saturday 16th November 2024.
This year Leeds Conservatoire is partnering with Futuresound to provide ten voluntary work opportunities for current Leeds Conservatoire students and Class of 2024 graduates.
The role involves shadowing and supporting the technical manager at one of the following Live at Leeds venues:
- Stylus
- The Wardrobe
- Headrow House
- Oporto
- Key Club
This volunteer role is to assist the Venue Technical Manager/Front of House engineer. Each volunteer will be positioned in 1 Venue only.
The role will consist of assisting with the technical production on show day. Reporting to the Venue Tech Manager, they will be given direction through the day. The tasks may consist of, but are not limited to: stage end tech and backline manoeuvring; backline management; cable management; assisting artists and other general Stage Crew tasks. Ultimately, technical production is very dynamic and the tasks that may be presented on the day vary dependent on the venue and artist.
Desirably the candidate will have an interest in Stage Tech/Crew roles and will have some experience and understanding of this side of the industry. An understanding of standard backline (drum kits, guitar amps, bass amps and electronic instruments) will certainly help.
- Hours: Each applicant will be required to work around 4-5 hours at a specific venue during the course of the festival
- Availability: Applicants must be available throughout 16th November, as exact timings are tbc.
- Application deadline: Thursday 7th November 10am. Applications will be reviewed as soon as possible.
These opportunities are unpaid; however you will have full access to the festival before and after your shift.
In order to make our involvement with the festival as successful as possible, you must be willing to work with Leeds Conservatoire around any promotional activities associated with the festival. A hard-working and positive attitude is essential. Whilst you’ll be able to enjoy the festival when you are not working, you’ll be expected to work throughout the hours of your shifts and be ready to start in advance.
If you feel you would be an appropriate candidate for these roles please complete the form below.
