Systems & IT
How you access and get support with the various virtual learning environment and IT systems you use during your studies.
About Learning Technology Systems & IT
Technology plays an important role in your time studying at Leeds Conservatoire, on this page you’ll find important information about your personal IT account and what you can access with it.
There are several teams who support different parts of our digital environment, specific contact details can be found below. In general, if it is a problem with your account, you need to contact ITSS and if it is a problem using a specific system or technology, you contact the relevant support team..
The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team offer 1-to-1 bookable digital coaching appointments throughout the year.

Student IT Account
Your account grants you access to all the technologies you can use at the conservatoire.
Make Sure You’re Ready For MFA – Important Changes to Your Account
From Monday 9th of February 2026 all students will need to use multifactor authentication (MFA) to access their conservatoire Microsoft 365 account when not connected to the on-campus WiFi or network.
This includes when signing in to other systems which use Microsoft to authenticate, like Space, Show, Life, and others.
What you need to do:
- Install the Microsoft Authenticator app onto your mobile device, ideally before the 9th February 2026
- Follow the instructions to set up MFA the first time you log in to your conservatoire Microsoft account on a non-conservatoire network, from the 9th February
- Use the Microsoft Authenticator app to get your unique MFA code each time you log in to your account on a non-conservatoire network
What to do if you don’t have a mobile device to install an authenticator app onto:
- Notify us as soon as possible, by completing the students without a smartphone form
- After you have completed the form, you will be invited to collect a hardware token from IT in room 339 at St. Peter’s Square
- Use your hardware token to get your unique MFA code each time you log in to your account on a non-conservatoire network
If you have any questions about MFA or require additional support, you can contact the IT Team.
Why MFA is important
Without MFA, a stolen username and password is all a threat actor needs to access your account, giving them full control to view private information or use it maliciously.
MFA requires an additional form of authentication to take place by the account holder; this is something that is only known by you like the code from your authenticator app or hardware token. Without this additional form of authentication, the threat actor is denied access to your account, even if they have stolen your username and password.
If you have any questions about MFA, you can contact the IT Team.
About Your Account
Every student has their own IT account which they use during their time at the conservatoire.
Your student account gives you access to almost every piece of technology you’ll use during your studies, from logging onto devices – to booking rooms or borrowing equipment, and everything in-between.
Your IT Account also grants you access to Microsoft 365 and your student email, which are very important.
Username: The same as your student ID number, e.g. 01234567
Email Address: username@leedsconservatoire.ac.uk, e.g. 01234567@leedsconservatorie.ac.uk
Password: Your initial password will be sent to your personal email before you enrol.
Your conservatoire IT account and use of all the information technologies at the conservatoire are subject to the Student IT Acceptable User Policy.

Connecting Your Devices
Using Leeds Conservatoire Computers
Your IT account allows you to log into networked computers on campus, browse locations via the following links.
Saving & Storing Your Work
You can work on networked computers around the conservatoire, however, it is important you take steps to appropriately save and back-up your work.
Do:
- Save your work to your student OneDrive account (most recommended)
- Back up your work to physical storage, like a harddrive or memory stick
- You may store your work on your network drive (H:) on conservatoire devices
Don’t:
- Don’t save you work locally to a conservatorie computer, e.g. on the desktop
- Local storage is reset periodically, any work you’ve saved on specific device will be deleted and cannot be restored
- Don’t have only one copy of any essential files you need, always keep a back up
Storage links
Get 1 TB of cloud storage with your conservatoire account.
Recovering Lost Work
If you accidently delete or loose a file from either you OneDrive or networked storage (H:), you can request support in recovering it. This data is backed up and can be retrieved by the Service Delivery Team within ITSS; the on-campus team can help you submit a request, but don’t acctually perform the file recovery.
If files were saved on a local drive, and that computer has had maintenance performed on it, there is a high chance that this data is lost. Leeds Conservatoire cannot recover work saved to your personal devices or physical storage.
